Senior Manufacturing Support Engineer
(Salary £50,000 – £60,000 – permanent/full time)
Job Outline
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Senior Electronics Engineer to step into the role of Senior Electronics Manufacturing Support Engineer and take charge of the Manufacturing Support team in Cambridge.
Reporting to the Manufacturing Department Manager, and working very closely with the Engineering team, you will be responsible for a Manufacturing Support team (up to 3 persons at the moment). The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the manufacturing product support requirements and delegating work to technicians assigned to product support tasks.
This is a key and varied role within the business which will see you working on manufacturing jigs, fixtures and test equipment, monitoring budgets as well as managing the Customer Repairs function.
Working collaboratively with the engineering department and Sub-contractors, you will establish test, calibration and characterisation methods for sensors and instrument production in manufacturing. You will also be directly involved in the design of improvements on products and the continuous improvement of test jigs as required, employing your expertise of analogue and digital circuit design alongside an appreciation of mechanical, embedded software, and systems in general.
You will maintain all documentation associated with the manufacturing process, ensuring full compliance with the QMS.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all the manufacturing product support requirements and be responsible for the delegation of work to any technicians/engineers assigned to product support tasks.
- Responsible for the upkeep of jigs, fixtures, and test equipment, and manufacturing documentation.
- Responsible for the customer repairs function within Manufacturing.
- Responsible for the continuation of products using management, design and manufacturing skills.
- Work alongside the purchasing department to ensure continuity of supply where obsolescence poses risk to product continuation.
- Work within the Quality Management System and all compliance regulations.
- Carry out PCB layout, schematic capture, simulation, prototyping, board-level test, production test equipment upgrade-design, and continuous improvement of test technology and equipment.
- Work closely with Engineering and subcontractors to put in place test, calibration and characterisation methods for sensors and instrument production in Manufacturing.
- Explore cost-effective paths for product manufacture by introducing appropriate third-party equipment and collaboration partners.
Education and Experience
- Degree in electronics minimum. (MSc/MEng preferred).
- At least 5 years’ experience in electronic product development, including PCB CAD, prototyping, board-level test, and debug.
- Experience of analogue circuit design and simulation.
- Experience in digital and embedded systems design, ideally sensors/measurement and some communications technologies.
- Understanding of scientific method, experiment creation, implementation and documentation.
- Experience in host/embedded programming; C, Assembler, Arduino, Python, any combination of above, highly desirable.
- Design for EMC, DFM and DFT.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Basic understanding of compliance and quality management systems (ISO9001).
- Basic project management and mechanical CAD skills preferred.
- Driving License required due to occasional site visits.

Export Sales and Business Development Manager
(Salary £65,000 – depending on skills and experience/40 hours week)
Job Outline
We are looking for an experienced and energetic person to become a key member of our Sales and Marketing team (11 people). This role would suit someone with an enthusiastic attitude who has international distributor experience in a Science/AgriTech/Engineering environment. You will have several areas of responsibility – each essential to our success:
- Appoint, train and manage the overseas distributor network
- Provide distributors and partners with sales, engineering and technical support/ training
- Negotiate and close sales deals (particularly high value sales)
- Identify, develop, and negotiate new business opportunities
- Take active role in UK sales
- Organise and attend exhibitions internationally
- Negotiate and participate in UK and international collaborative projects
Education and Experience
- Sales professional with applied science or engineering degree in relevant subject, or equivalent experience
- Experience of networking and building commercial relationships to win high value contracts
- 3 years export sales and distribution management experience

Other requirements
- IT skills appropriate to a sales management position in the science sector
- Able to cope with the pressures of a demanding, fast-moving role that involves long-haul travel
- Able to work at our base In Burwell, Cambridge (working from home would occasionally be possible but it’s important to be physically present as part of the Sales and Marketing team, when not away travelling)
